— HOW WE TREAT —
Nutrition & Lifestyle Support.
Because mental health is shaped by far more than what's on your plate.
— THE PHILOSOPHY —
Mental health doesn't live only in the brain.
It's shaped by everything that supports the brain: what you eat, how you sleep, how you move, the relationships that surround you, the work that fills your days, and the moments of stillness in between.
At MIP, nutrition and lifestyle support is woven into your psychiatric and therapy care, not offered as a separate program. Our work in this space is guided by the integrative health model, a whole-person framework that recognizes wellbeing as the product of many interconnected layers, not a single diet, supplement, or habit.
— INTEGRATIVE COACHING
Not just what you eat, but how you live.
Trained through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), our integrative nutritional health coach brings a unique lens to mental health care.
Integrative health draws from over 100 dietary theories and traditions, with the understanding that there is no single way of eating that works for everyone. Instead, we explore what nourishes you, physically, emotionally, and structurally, and help you build a sustainable foundation for mental wellbeing.
This is coaching, not clinical nutrition therapy, it complements, and never replaces, the work of licensed dietitians where indicated, especially for medical nutrition or eating disorder treatment.
— THE MODEL —
Primary Food & Secondary Food.
A powerful idea sits at the center of the integrative health model: what's on your plate matters — but it's not the whole story.
THE DEEPER LAYER
Primary Food
The things that feed you in ways food can't. Relationships that nourish you. Work that feels meaningful. Movement that energizes your body. Spirituality, creativity, rest, joy, purpose.
When primary food is rich and balanced, secondary food becomes easier, and more enjoyable. When it's depleted, no diet will fix what's missing.
ON YOUR PLATE
Secondary Food
The actual food you eat: macronutrients, micronutrients, hydration, and the rhythms of eating that fuel your body and brain.
What you eat absolutely shapes how you feel, but it does so within the larger context of your life.
We work with both. Often, what looks like a nutrition problem is actually a primary-food problem in disguise — and addressing the deeper layer is what makes lasting change possible.
— WHAT WE EXPLORE TOGETHER —
Six layers of everyday wellbeing.
No. 01 - Nourishment
Food & Mood
The relationship between what you eat and how you feel — blood sugar stability, gut health, micronutrient adequacy, and the foods that support steady energy, focus, and resilience.
No. 02 - Rest
Sleep & Daily Rhythm
Sleep patterns, evening routines, light exposure, and the cycles that may be quietly fueling anxiety, low mood, or burnout. When sleep stabilizes, much else follows.
No. 03 - Movement
Movement & Embodiment
What sustainable, joyful movement looks like for your body and your life — not as a prescription, but as a practice that supports both mental and physical health.
No. 04 - Regulation
Stress & Nervous System
The pace, screens, and demands of modern life can keep the nervous system in chronic overdrive. We explore breathwork, boundaries, downtime, and the recovery practices that let your system truly rest.
No. 05 - Meaning
Relationships, Career & Purpose
The often-overlooked dimensions of primary food. We look at the relationships, work, and sense of meaning that either fuel your wellbeing or quietly deplete it.
No. 06 - Support
Supplementation & Micronutrients
For patients interested in evidence-informed integrative options, we discuss targeted vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that may support neurotransmitter function, energy, and resilience — always within your full clinical care.
— HOW IT FITS INTO YOUR CARE —
The lifestyle layer is where lasting change often takes root.
Nutrition and lifestyle coaching at MIP is part of your integrative care plan — not a separate service. Your psychiatrist, therapist, and coach coordinate to ensure that what you're doing day-to-day aligns with the rest of your treatment. Whether you're stabilizing on medication, working through therapy, or simply trying to feel more like yourself — this is where it comes together.
— BEGIN —
Curious how the way you're living
is shaping the way you're feeling?
That's exactly what a consultation is for.
